HART EMS Services

H.A.R.T. provides Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support services across a range of operations, including Interfacility Transport (IFT), Wildland Fire Remote Emergency Medical Support (REMS), and FEMA disaster response. We are continually adapting to meet the evolving needs of the communities we serve, delivering high-quality medical care with advanced equipment in both emergency response and transport environments.

What is HART?

High Angle Rapid Extrication Module Support Team (H.A.R.T.) started in 2019. But the journey started way before H.A.R.T. was even an idea. After completing his service in the U.S. Navy, Robert (owner) was interested in finding a way to continue to further his skills and service.  Robert then became a volunteer for a year with a local Search and Rescue group Portland Mountain Rescue (PMR) in 1987. As he continued to hone his skills as a Paramedic he then joined the elite Reach and Treat Team for American Medical Response in 2000 where they specialized in rope rescue, swift water rescue, mountain rescue, wildfire EMS, and providing medical assistance in austere environments. Learning the skills needed to become a rope rescue and a swift water rescue instructor reinforced the skills needed to form H.A.R.T. with his wife Jamien.

Jamien began her journey in EMS after completing a month-long National Outdoor Leadership School course in Kenya in 1996. She got her Wilderness First Responder and slowly worked her way up to an EMT and then BSN, RN.  She has been a volunteer in Clackamas County with Search and Rescue since 2001.  As a volunteer, she continued to develop medical skills in urban and austere environments as well as technical rope rescue and swiftwater rescue.

H.A.R.T. provides ALS/BLS care with our ambulances while out on wildfires or natural disasters. H.A.R.T. also provides ALS care coupled with rope rescue and swift water rescue while out on wildfires and natural disasters. In addition to wildfires, H.A.R.T. aided in hurricane Helene in 2024.

H.A.R.T. provides Advanced Life-Support and Basic Life-Support for Inter Facility transports (IFT)  for the community that they provide coverage in. We are always adapting to our community with new ways to provide the best medical care with the best medical equipment. While much of our work has previously focused on austere environments, our team has extensive work with in-town patient care and transport.  It is with this vast experience and background that our team is based and our Ambulances are equipped.  Our Ambulances are fully stocked with ALS equipment, 12-lead capabilities, Lucas Device, and full ALS medications.  This high standard supports increased levels of patient outcomes utilizing industry standard equipment.

H.A.R.T. is focused on providing high quality EMS teams for patient care in the communities they serve.
